New Marlborough Central
More Information
-
The small size of the school provides for a great amount of flexibility and individual attention. Students receive instruction in English, science, math, and social studies based on the Massachusetts Frameworks and the current transition to the Common Core. In addition, teachers reach out to community resources such as Berkshire Pulse, the Historical Society and Flying Cloud Institute to extend learning and engage students in hands-on learning. The Journeys Reading Program was introduced two years ago in New Marlborough as it was at Undermountain. The school has a laptop cart and is fully covered by a wireless network.

Foreign language, physical education, art, and music teachers, while housed at Undermountain Elementary, travel to NMC each week to meet with students. The all-purpose room next to the library at New Marlborough Central is used for specials instruction. For physical education, the New Marlborough campus provides ample room for activity, including a playground, a baseball field, and an outdoor basketball court. The elementary librarian visits the newly remodeled library at NMC each week as well.
